Exhibit: Maumee River Crossing Bridge

This is a beautiful, state-of-the-art bridge currently being built over the Maumee River in Toledo, Ohio.  The beautiful cable-stayed design and the lighted glass panels will add beauty to the Toledo waterfront.  This model will encompass the 1220-foot main span of the bridge, and will be suspended by cables just like the real bridge.  At more than thirteen feet long and four feet high, this bridge seems at first glance to be complex building project.  However, the 260 segments that together form the main span of the bridge are simple enough for even for hands that have never worked with LEGO® bricks.

Hands-on opportunities with this project include building the segments that make up the main span of the bridge and adding them to the bridge.

Learning opportunities with this project include the science of cable-stayed bridges, the fascinating construction process involved, and the mathematics of scale modeling.
