Bridges offer a perfect opportunity to learn engineering concepts, and LEGO® bricks offer a perfect medium for first-person experience with these concepts.  This project incorporates several types of bridge construction, including suspension, cable-stayed, truss, and cantilever.  A parallel to this exhibit is the Maumee River Crossing exhibit.  The presentation of this project is accompanied by a computer-based multimedia presentation and printed materials.

Hands-on opportunities with this project include building and testing pre-designed bridge models and experimenting with bridges of your own design.

Learning opportunities with this project include the science of bridge construction and the mathematics of scale modeling (when combined with the Maumee River Crossing exhibit).  Also, tie-ins can be made to bridges and other structures in the local community or region.
